Limited stock. Unopened final storage copy of the 2010 re-release of a 1987 self-released CD “Eye to Eye” by Kazue Sawai, a renowned Japanese koto player. The CD comes with a 24-page booklet incl. English lyrics and info. Obi attached.
This quiet and beautiful neo-traditional ambient album seeks to eclectic koto with eastern asia tradition and western contemporary music, with a help of a composer / multi-instrumentalist, Ayuo Takahashi, who later released solo albums on Tzadik (US). All tracks are composed of 13-string and 17-string koto played by Sawai, and sound effects such as echo or delay and electronic modulation are applied to them, adding a sense of floating and ambient mystery. Seven songs feature vocals and readings, and two are koto solos. The final track is composed by Yuji Takahashi.
All tracks were recorded and mixed by David Lord in 1987 in UK. Arranged and produced by Ayuo Takahashi.
